We had the absolute pleasure of chatting with Frida Gustavsson on the Popternative show who plays Freydis in Vikings: Valhalla which recently premiered on Netflix. It was no surprise to many that the show has been a global hit for the streaming service. It was also freshly announced that the show has been officially renewed by Netflix for seasons 2 and 3.

Set over a hundred years after the end of the original Vikings series, Vikings: Valhalla is a new adventure that blends historical authenticity and drama with gritty, immersive action. From showrunner and executive producer Jeb Stuart,Valhalla is also executive produced by Morgan O’Sullivan, Michael Hirst, Sheila Hockin, Steve Stark, James Flynn, John Weber, Sherry Marsh and Alan Gasmer, Paul Buccieri, and also stars Bradley Freegard, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson, Caroline Henderson, Laura Berlin, and David Oakes.

In our interview, Frida goes into detail about working on such a dynamic and eye captivating show that is Vikings: Valhalla. She also talks about what it’s like playing a powerful character like Freydis. Finally, Frida also admits that she listened to a lot of Scandinavian metal music during filming. Her brother, who is a big metal fan, made her a specific playlist to get her in the mood for the intense fight scenes in the series.
