We were joined on the Popternative show by Frank Grillo (Tulsa King) to discuss his new horror action film, Werewolves, which made its theatrical debut on December 6. Directed by Steven C. Miller (Line of Duty) and written by Matthew Kennedy (Canary Black), the film sees a supermoon event triggering a latent gene in every human on the planet, turning anyone who entered the moonlight into a werewolf for that one night. Chaos ensued and close to a billion people died. Now, a year later, the Supermoon is back.
The film’s cast also includes Katrina Law (Arrow), Ilfenesh Hadera (Billions), Kamdynn Gary (One Piece), James Michael Cummings (City on a Hill), Lydia Styslinger (The War with Grandpa), Lou Diamond Phillips (Longmire), and Betzaida Landín (Maya).
On working with director Steven C. Miller, Frank tells us, “We shot the movie basically with the script that we eventually landed on and we shot it in sequence, in order, which made it great for us. It was fantastic. Steven [C. Miller] actually cast actors that when they were human, before they became werewolves, their personalities transferred over to the wolves which was an important part of the story which was fascinating.”

Frank also touches on his past projects in preparing for his role in Werewolves: “This movie reminded me of The Purge: Anarchy right out of the box. The themes were similar. My jobs in the movies were similar. When I first read [the script], I was like, ‘okay, I got this, I know this guy. I can do it’.”
