We were joined on the Popternative show by Eva Ariel Binder who plays Shay in Apple TV+’s new show, Dear Edward, from Friday Night Lights and Parenthood creator Jason Katims. Eva is best known for her acclaimed role as Sofia Sloane-Torres on ABC’s award-winning medical drama series Grey’s Anatomy.
The 10-episode series premiered on Friday, February 3rd with 3 episodes followed by a new one each Friday. Dear Edward follows 12-year-old Edward who is the lone survivor of a plane crash; as he and others affected by the tragedy try to make sense of what happened, unexpected friendships, romances, and communities are formed.

The cast also includes Colin O’Brien (Mr. Harrigan’s Phone), Taylor Schilling (Orange is the New Black), Connie Britton (The White Lotus), Carter Hudson (Snowfall), Amy Forsyth (CODA), Maxwell Jenkins (Lost in Space), Audrey Corsa (All Rise), Dario Ladani Sanchez (Paper Trail), Anna Uzele (City on a Hill), Robin Tunney (The Mentalist), Khloe Bruno, Jenna Qureshi (Alma’s Way), Brittany S. Hall (Ballers), and Douglas M. Griffin (Hap and Leonard), and Idris Debrand (Kat and the Band).
In our interview, Eva talks about the audition process for Dear Edward, what viewers can expect from her character Shay and her storyline, and much more. She also tells about some of the learning experiences she gained from working on the series.
