We were joined on the Popternative show by Drew Ray Tanner who stars in the new rom-com Boot Camp which is adapted from the popular Wattpad story by Gina Muse with over 26 million downloads. Directed by Mackenzie Munro, the film also stars Rachel Boudwin, Ennis Esmer, Martin Cummins, and Emmanuelle Chriqui.
Boot Camp follows Whitney (Rachel Boudwin) who begins to fall for her off-limits personal trainer, Axel (Drew Ray Tanner) after signing up for an intense summer boot camp to reinvent herself. A deepening connection inspires her to let go of the expectations of others and, instead, find the strength to embrace her true self.
In our interview, Drew tells us about his research for his role which began with the Wattpad story itself. He also discusses being able to meet and consult with the author on set which helped with the script to screen journey for him as an actor. Drew then shares what it was like being part of the global phenenemon CW series Riverdale where he portrayed Fangs Fogarty from 2017-2023.
