Dempsey Bryk joined us on the Popternative show to discuss his role as Airk in Disney+‘s new live-action fantasy adventure series Willow based on the classic 1988 feature film. It recently premiered on November 30th with the the first 3 episodes, and a new episode drops on Wednesdays, with a total of 8.

Official Synopsis
The story began with an aspiring magician from a Nelwyn village and an infant girl destined to unite the realms, who together helped destroy an evil queen and banish the forces of darkness. Now, in a magical world where brownies, sorcerers, trolls, and other mystical creatures flourish, the adventure continues, as an unlikely group of heroes set off on a dangerous quest to places far beyond their home, where they must face their inner demons and come together to save their world.

In addition, Warwick Davis reprises his role of Willow, and Joanne Whalley reprises her role as Sorsha. The cast also includes Ruby Cruz (Mare of Easttown), Erin Kellyman (The Falcon and the Winter Soldier), Ellie Bamber (The Serpent), Tony Revolori (Spider-Man: No Way Home), and Amar Chadha-Patel (The Wheel of Time).

In our interview, Dempsey tells us how he was cast for his role back in 2020, and that it still hasn’t hit him that the show is finally here. He also discusses how the series tries to honor the original story and film, yet at the same time, it also aims to bring a contemporary approach to it.
