We were joined on the Popternative show by Dania Ramirez who returns as Aimee in season 2 of Netflix’s critically acclaimed series Sweet Tooth which premiered on April 27. The series, which was recently renewed for a third and final season, also stars Christian Convery as Gus, Nonso Anozie as Jepperd, Adeel Akhtar as Dr. Singh, Stefania LaVie Owen as Bear, Aliza Vellani as Rani Singh, Naledi Murray as Wendy, Neil Sandilands as General Abbot, Marlon Williams as Johnny Abbot, Christopher Sean Cooper Jr. as Teddy, and Yonas Kibreab as Finn, with James Brolin as the narrator.

Season 1 ended with Aimee being separated from the hybrids she saved and raised, and season 2 finds Jepperd and Aimee teaming up to break them free as General Abbot and the evil forces try to wipe them out once and for all.

In our interview, Dania talks about what it was like reuniting with the Sweet Tooth cast and crew in New Zealand to film the new season: “It was better than I imagined I have to say. Season 2 is bigger, there’s a lot more at stake, so many more heartfelt moments, sad moments and exciting moments, and fights, and wars. […] And I do love the fact that every character gets to get paired up with different people so you get to explore those people from a different place.”

Dania also discusses Fox’s new police drama series, Alert: Missing Persons Unit, where she stars as Nikki alongside Scott Caan. The series was recently renewed for season 2 after its season 1 finale aired on February 27.
