We were joined on the Popternative show by Christian Convery who stars in the comedy thriller Cocaine Bear which was released in theaters on February 24th. Directed by Elizabeth Banks (Charlie’s Angels, Pitch Perfect 2), the film is inspired by the 1985 true story of a drug runner’s plane crash resulting in a black bear eating the cocaine.

Christian stars in Cocaine Bear alongside Keri Russell (The Americans), Margo Martindale (The Americans), Ray Liotta (The Many Saints of Newark), Alden Ehrenreich (Solo: A Star Wars Story), O’Shea Jackson Jr. (Straight Outta Compton), Jesse Tyler Ferguson (Modern Family), Kristofer Hivju (Game of Thrones), Kahyun Kim (American Gods), Brooklynn Prince (The Florida Project), and newcomer Scott Seiss.

“It’s outrageous. The title just says it all: Cocaine Bear. A coke fueled bear in a Georgian forest back in 1985,” Christian says when asked about filming the movie. He also tells us that the tree he climbs during his scenes wasn’t actually as tall as it seems on screen: “I love getting to do stunts, but it’s pretty freaky, I’m kind of scared of heights, I will admit that.” Christian also discusses starring in Netfix’s Sweet Tooth which premiered in 2021 and will soon be returning for season 2.
