We had a chance to speak with young actor Chase Petriw who plays Christopher in the Netflix hit series Virgin River. Check out what he had to say!
How did you get into storytelling and acting?
CP: I started acting when I was 5, at first I went for commercial auditions only. The first commercial I booked, you only saw my hand (I was a hand double). I then booked a few commercials and decided I wanted to give film and TV a try. I like the variety of different plots and storylines because they can be very intriguing, I really enjoy the fun in being able to create a new character and see where it goes.
What’s it like working on a show like Virgin River?
CP: Virgin River is pretty interesting because the story line is very complex. There are many stories going on at once. The people on set are really kind, they love to chat, and I have become good friends with Preacher (Colin Lawrence). Colin is a very nice guy, we love to chat on set, we have a secret handshake which we snuck into the show. Everyone involved in filming are super nice and it’s a great experience.
What can you tell us about your character Christopher in Virgin River?
CP: Christopher is a boy that doesn’t really know the story behind why his mom was being so protective of him. His mom tries to keep him safe and when she has to leave town Preacher steps in as a parental figure. Christopher is a kid that just wants to have fun in Virgin River, play, and hang out with his friends. He had to change towns and friends to hide with his mom. He really just wants to be a kid and play, but he has a tough time adjusting to living with Preacher and living without his mom.

What do you think about the global success of Virgin River?
CP: I’m very happy that the show has taken off on Netflix. I appreciate all the fans out there that enjoy the show.
Besides acting, do you have any interest down the road to go behind the camera and write, produce or direct?
CP: At this point, I don’t see myself writing, producing or directing, however I am only 10. But I really enjoy learning all the parts that go into making a TV series. There are so many talented people and they all work together to make an excellent project. Thanks for the interview! Have a great day!
