The Pretty Little Liars franchise expanded in 2022 with a new spin off series, Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin, bringing viewers to a brand new town, with a new generation of Little Liars: Bailee Madison (Good Witch) as Imogen, Chandler Kinney (Zombies) as Tabby, Zaria (Taurus) as Faran, Malia Pyles (Baskets) as Mouse, and Maia Reficco (Do Revenge) as Noa. Original Sin followed the five as they were tormented by an unknown assailant and made to pay for the secret sin committed by their parents two decades ago, as well as their own.
The horror/slasher drama series is now back for its second season, Pretty Little Liars: Summer School, and premiered with the first 2 episodes on May 9th on Max. Following the events of Original Sin, the Pretty Little Liars now face a fate worse than death – summer school. Millwood High however isn’t the only thing getting in the way of their fun summer jobs and new love interests. A new villain, who may or may not have a connection to A, is now in town and is going to put them all to the test.
The cast also includes Mallory Bechtel (Hereditary), Sharon Leal (Boston Public), Alex Aiono (See You on Venus), Jordan Gonzalez (The L Word: Generation Q), and Elias Kacavas (My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3).
We were joined back on the Popternative show by Chandler Kinney to discuss the new season and what audiences can expect: “I’m excited that people get a closer look of the inner workings of [Tabby’s] brain and her mind and what this trauma has been for her, and how she continues to move through it and heal.”

She also mentions that while there are some time jumps in the new season, it still feels like the same series: “You get the time jump and it [can feel] like a new show visually and tonally, but still is true to what we created and what everybody loved the first time around.” Chandler also touches on the dedicated PLL fans: “It’s a franchise people love, and they love it for a reason […] The fan base are so committed and emotionally invested in these characters, and they comb through these episodes and pick up these little baby beats and moments.”
