Actress Alexa Barajas joined us back on the Popternative show to talk all things Yellowjackets now that season 2 is underway which premiered on March 24 on Showtime. Alexa portrays Teen Mari who we were introduced to in the first season which saw a high school girls soccer team in the 90s become the survivors of a plane crash in the northern wilderness.
Alexa discusses Mari’s character development in season 2 and how she believes she’s gained more confidence:
“I think she’s definitely grown to have more confidence, and I think now that Jackie’s gone and she’s kind of finding her place now in the group, and having Lottie, or at least believing that Lottie is on her side, has given her a lot more confidence to stand up to the others.”
She also talks about how she prepares for her scenes:
“For myself, there’s the preparation I do for my character; I just want to make sure I know where she stands, what she believes in at the moment because things are constantly changing. And for me personally, because the subject matter being so heavy, I try and make sure that in between scenes, in between takes, to take it easy, play Nintendo, or just listen to music and just chill out so that hopefully I don’t let it affect me.”
