We were joined on the Popternative show by Jake Lacy (The White Lotus) and Maika Monroe (It Follows) to chat about their newest sci-fi horror film Significant Other streaming now on Paramount+. The film also recently had its world premiere on October 6th at the 2022 New York Comic Con.
Written and directed by Dan Berk and Robert Olsen (both also wrote and directed 2019’s Villains), the film follows a young couple, Harry (Jake Lacy) and Ruth (Maika Monroe), who take a remote backpacking trip through the Pacific Northwest, but things take a dark turn when they realize they may not be alone.
In our interview, Jake talks about working on a project like this where the focus is on two actors as opposed to an ensemble cast such as his Emmy-nominated role in The White Lotus. Maika discusses the horror genre and what she loves about it.
