We were joined on the Popternative show by Niko Ceci to discuss season 2 of the vampire coming-of-age comedy series, I Woke Up a Vampire, which premiered on Netflix April 4th. Niko plays Kev, the comic book obsessed best friend of Carmie (played by Kaileen Chang), a13-year-old half human, half vampire. Season 1 premiered in October 2023 on Netflix, and is created by Thomas Lynch (The Secret World of Alex Mack).
The family-friendly series follows Carmie who wakes up on her 13th birthday to discover she now has supernatural powers as a vampling (half human, half vampire) and must navigate the pre-teen world with her newfound identity.

The cast also includes Aaliyah Cinello (Kim’s Convenience), Zebastin Borjeau (Joe Pickett), Ana Araujo (Odd Squad), Ipsita Paul (The Handmaid’s Tale), Rainbow Sun Francks (High Fidelity), Kris Siddiqi (The Boys), and Charlotte Legault (District 31).
“Every single day I had a blast and it went by so quickly. Season 1 went a little bit slower and then when we jumped into filming season 2 it just flew by,” Niko says on the pace of shooting the series. He also discusses the global reach of I Woke Up a Vampire streaming on Netflix, and some of his learning experiences about acting from on set. Watch the full interview with Niko below.
