HBO Max today revealed the official trailer for the for The Big Bang Theory spinoff series, Stuart Fails to Save the Universe, which sees Kevin Sussman reprise his role as comic book store owner Stuart Bloom. Set to debut on July 23 at 9 pm ET, the series will also star Big Bang alum Lauren Lapkus as Denise, Brian Posehn as Bert, and John Ross Bowie as Barry Kripke.
The official logline for Stuart Fails to Save the Universe reads, “Comic book store owner Stuart Bloom is tasked with restoring reality after he breaks a device built by Sheldon and Leonard, accidentally bringing about a multiverse Armageddon. Stuart is aided in this quest by his girlfriend Denise, geologist friend Bert, and quantum physicist/all-around pain in the ass Barry Kripke. Along the way, they meet alternate-universe versions of characters we’ve come to know and love from The Big Bang Theory. As the title implies, things don’t go well.”
Unlike the cozy sitcom setup that made The Big Bang Theory a global hit, Stuart Fails to Save the Universe takes the franchise to new territory. The trailer showcases a mix of action-packed sequences, and alternate-universe chaos, giving the series a much grander scope.
