HBO released a teaser trailer today for the upcoming comedy series The Franchise, premiering Sunday, October 6th at 10:00pm ET/PT on HBO and will be available to stream on Max. The pilot was directed by Sam Mendes (1917, American Beauty) and written by Jon Brown (Succession, Misfits) who serves as showrunner.

The series follows the crew of an unloved franchise movie fighting for their place in a savage and unruly cinematic universe. The comedy series shines a light on the secret chaos inside the world of superhero moviemaking, to ask the question — how exactly does the cinematic sausage get made? Because every f*ck-up has an origin story.

The Franchise stars Himesh Patel (Good Grief, Yesterday), Aya Cash (The Boys, You’re The Worst), Jessica Hynes (Shaun of the Dead), Billy Magnussen (Road House, Lift), Lolly Adefope (Ghosts, Shrill), Darren Goldstein (The Affair, Ozark), and Isaac Powell (American Horror Story, Dear Evan Hansen). Recurring guest stars include Richard E. Grant (Saltburn, Can You Ever Forgive Me?) and Daniel Brühl (Becoming Karl Lagerfeld, The Alienist).

Executive producers are Sam Mendes, Pippa Harris, Nicolas Brown, and Julie Pastor for Neal Street Productions; Armando Iannucci for Dundee Productions; Jon Brown, and Jim Kleverweis.
