We were joined on the Popternative show by Kyle Newacheck (Murder Mystery, Workaholics), director of the highly anticipated sequel, Happy Gilmore 2. Kyle reunites with Adam Sandler as they peviously worked on Netflix‘s Murder Mystery (2019) together with Kyle directing as well.
Happy Gilmore 2 premired on Netflix on July 25 and sees Adam Sandler return to the golf green almost 30 years later as Happy Gilmore. “Walking into this world that as a young kid I saw, and for me, shaped how comedy should be made and what comedy should feel like,” Kyle says on getting to be part of the sequel.
The cast of Happy Gilmore 2 is nothing of short as it comprises of new and returning cast including Adam Sandler, Julie Bowen, Christopher McDonald, Ben Stiller, Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio (aka Bad Bunny), Sadie Sandler, Sunny Sandler, Conor Sherry, Eminem, Ethan Cutkosky, Lavell Crawford, Philip Fine Schneider, Maxwell Jacob Friedman, Travis Kelce, Blake Clark, and Scottie Scheffler.
Professional golfers can also be seen throughout including John Daly, Paige Spiranac, Rory McIlroy, Scottie Scheffler, Bryson DeChambeau, Brooks Koepka, Justin Thomas, and Will Zalatoris.
Kyle describes the sequel as still sticking to its original roots but also “having the desire to forge something new; a new quality, heartfelt story that is cotemporary [and] relevant right now.”
