Today is a very sad day; Gord Downie is no longer with us. Gord was way more than just a frontman of one the most established and successful Canadian bands of all time, The Tragically Hip. Gord Downie will always be a Canadian icon.
At 53, Downie touched the lives of many Canadians and although everyone did see this day coming at some point, this is still a day of shock and deep sadness.
As you can see can in the video clip below, The Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau, emphasized how important Gord Downie was to Canada, and how important Canada was to him.

In many ways, Gord Downie was like a spokesperson for our amazing country of Canada and today, “Our buddy Gord” will rest peacefully and will never be forgotten.
