
Netflix today revealed first look photos from the upcoming 4-part miniseries, Toxic Town, based on the real-life story of one of the UK’s biggest environmental scandals, the Corby poisonings. The series focuses on the the people at the heart of the Corby poisonings, including mothers who went on a battle for justice. It will premiere globally on the platform on Thursday, February 27.
Written by Jack Thorne (Best Interests, His Dark Materials), the cast includes Jodie Whittaker (Doctor Who, Broadchurch), Aimee Lou Wood (The White Lotus, Sex Education), Robert Carlyle (Once Upon a Time, The Full Monty), Rory Kinnear (Say Nothing, The Diplomat), Stephen McMillan (Boiling Point, The Lesson), Lauren Lyle (Karen Pirie, Outlander), Joe Dempsie (Game of Thrones, Deep State), Michael Socha (Showtrial, This Is England), Brendan Coyle (Downton Abbey, Me Before You), Matthew Durkan (Wedding Season), Claudia Jessie (Bridgerton, Vanity Fair), and Karla Crome (Misfits, Carnival Row).

Tudum’s description of the series: “A dramatized series that’s based on the real case of the Corby poisonings, which saw a group of mothers (three of whom are played in the series by Whittaker, Wood, and Jessie) challenge their town’s council over alleged toxic waste mismanagement. It’s a story of community resilience in the face of institutional negligence and greed — and the power of parents’ love for their children.”
