Netflix today debuted the official trailer for the upcoming political comedy series, Tyler Perry’s She The People premiering with Part 1 on May 22. Part 2 will launch on August 14. Written, directed, and produced by Tyler Perry, this is Perry’s first comedy series on Netflix. Perry created the series with Niya Palmer (Run the World) who also serves as executive producer.
She the People features some cast members from the Tyler Perry universe, including Terri J. Vaughn (Daddy’s Little Girls) and Jo Marie Payton (Meet the Browns), along with newcomers Jade Novah (That’s My Jam), Drew Olivia Tillman (This Is Us), Tré Boyd (House of Payne), and Dyon Brooks (A Naughty Christmess Story).
The synopsis reads, “Lieutenant Governor candidate Antoinette Dunkerson runs a successful campaign and now must figure out how to thrive under a sexist and condescending governor while attempting to keep her family in line now that they’re all in the public eye.”
