Netflix today revealed first look photos from the upcoming crime thriller, The Rip starring Matt Damon (Air, The Martian) and Ben Affleck (Air, The Accountant). Written and directed by Joe Carnahan (Smokin’ Aces, The Grey), the film will release globally on January 16, 2026.

The Rip also stars Steven Yeun (Beef, Minari), Teyana Taylor (Straw, A Thousand and One), Sasha Calle (On Swift Horses, The Flash), Catalina Sandino Moreno (From, The Affair), Scott Adkins (Avengement, John Wick: Chapter 4), and Kyle Chandler (Bloodline, Friday Night Lights).

The logline reads, “Upon discovering millions in cash in a derelict stash house, trust among a team of Miami cops begins to fray. As outside forces learn about the size of the seizure, everything is called into question — including who they can rely on.”

“You’ve got these two guys who have both been world-famous for over 30 years with a wonderful sense of friendship and brotherhood. Those guys are just so gifted and lovely and talented and open,” writer and director Joe Carnahan tells Tudum on working with Damon and Affleck.
