Netflix revealed first look photos from the upcoming coming-of-age LGBTQ+ series BOOTS set in the world of the 1990s US Marine Corps. The series is inspired by the 2015 book The Pink Marine by Greg Cope White. BOOTS will premiere on Netflix on October 9.
The series stars Miles Heizer (13 Reasons Why), Max Parker (Emmerdale Farm), Vera Farmiga (The Conjuring), Liam Oh (The Thing About Harry), Cedrick Cooper (Will Trent), Ana Ayora (In The Dark), Angus O’Brien (Hightown), Dominic Goodman (First Kill), Kieron Moore (Code of Silence), Nicholas Logan (I Care a Lot), Rico Paris (Zola), and Blake Burt (The World We Make).

The synopsis reads, “BOOTS is a one-hour comedic drama that delivers an irreverent, off-beat take on the coming-of-age story. Set in the tough, unpredictable world of the 1990s US Marine Corps—when being gay in the military was still illegal—the series follows directionless, closeted Cameron Cope (Miles Heizer) and his best friend Ray McAffey (Liam Oh), the son of a decorated Marine, as they join a diverse group of recruits. Together, this ensemble navigates the literal and metaphorical landmines of boot camp, forging unlikely bonds and discovering their true selves in an environment designed to push them to their limits. With sharp wit and plenty of heart, BOOTS is about friendship, resilience, and finding your place in the world—even when that world seems determined to keep you in line or leave you behind.”

Additional cast include Brandon Tyler Moore (Sisters on the Run), Zach Roerig (The Vampire Diaries), Anthony Marble (The First), Joy Osmanski (Stargirl), Ivan Hoey Jr. (The Devil All the Time), Logan Gould (Stranger Things: The First Shadow – Broadway), Jack Kay, Troy Leigh-Anne Johnson (Totally Killer), Jonathan Nieves (Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies), and Brett Dalton (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.).
