Game of Thrones will begin production for their final season this October, and they seem to have an insanely big budget. Variety reported that each episode of season 8 will cost at least $15 million, and the first season cost $6 million per episode. Depending on the need for retakes and additional visual effects, that price could even increase. Over the past few years, the average amount that a television series with a massive budget spent on an episode was $10 million.
According to Indie Wire, each episode will be feature-length. Season 8 is said to have a much shorter amount of episodes, but the season as a whole will have way more screen-time than previous ones.
The final season of Game of Thrones will debut on HBO in 2018 or 2019.
