We were joined on the Popternative show by Kaitlyn Santa Juana (The Friendship Game) who stars in the new Final Destination film, Final Destination: Bloodlines. The newest chapter in the franchise takes audiences back to the very beginning of Death’s twisted sense of justice that explains how everything began. It premiered in theaters on May 16 and is co-directed by directed by Adam Stein and Zach Lipovsky (Freaks).
The ensemble cast also includes Teo Briones (Chucky), Richard Harmon (The 100), Owen Patrick Joyner (Julie and the Phantoms), Anna Lore (They/Them), Gabrielle Ros (Virgin River), Rya Kihlstedt (Obi-Wan Kenobi), April Telek (Hell on Wheels), Andrew Tinpo Lee (General Hospital), Alex Zahara (School Spirits), Brec Bassinger (Stargirl), and Tony Todd (Candyman).
Kaitlyn plays college student Stefani who is plagued by a violent recurring nightmare. She heads home to track down the one person who might be able to break the cycle and save her family from the grisly demise that inevitably awaits them all – her grandmother, Iris Campbell (Rose)
“The whole family aspect kind of just gives it a different spin,” Kaitlyn says.
“My takeaway when I fist read the script [was that] it’s the first time you come into a [Final Destination] movie and you’re rooting for the characters. Usually, you’re rooting for death to get them all, [but in Bloodlines] you kind of fall in love with everybody, and for the first time I think it confused audiences, like wait, ‘who are we rooting for?'” Kaitlyn adds.
