ABS-CBN’s Star Cinema Films has set a North American theatrical release date for the rom-com, My Love Will Make You Disappear, starring beloved Filipino stars Kim Chiu and Paulo Avelino in their first feature film collaboration. The romantic comedy will open in theaters across the U.S. and Canada on March 28, 2025. It will be released in theaters in the Philippines on March 26.
Directed by Chad Vidanes (What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim) in his feature debut from an original screenplay by Patrick Valencia (Etiquette for Mistresses) and Isabella Policarpio (Teen Clash), My Love Will Make You Disappear continues ABS-CBN Films’ legacy of bringing Filipino storytelling to a global audience.
The synopsis reads, “Sari (Kim Chiu) has spent her life believing she is cursed – every man she loves mysteriously disappears. To protect herself from heartbreak, she has sworn off romance – until she meets Jolo (Paulo Avelino), a brooding landlord weighed down by personal failures and the burden of inheriting a struggling apartment complex. As Jolo and Sari work together to save the community from being displaced, their bond deepens. But for Sari, love has always come at a price. Will she risk everything, even if it means Jolo might disappear too?”
Kim Chiu and Paulo Avelino have captivated audiences together in two major television hits, Linlang and What Happened to Secretary Kim. While both have starred in highly successful films individually, My Love Will Make You Disappear marks the first time they are headlining a movie together, making this one of the most highly anticipated Filipino film pairings of the year.

Kim Chiu, one of the Philippines’ most beloved actresses, has a track record of box-office hits across genres, from romantic comedies (Bride for Rent), to drama (Etiquette for Mistresses), and horror (The Ghost Bride). She brings Sari’s vulnerability, humor, and strength to life with her signature charm and depth. Paulo Avelino, acclaimed for his intense and layered performances (Heneral Luna, Fan Girl), plays Jolo, a man at a crossroads. His ability to blend brooding charisma with humor and heart makes him a compelling romantic lead.
Designed by Amorette Jones’s AJMC, the theatrical marketing campaign will target core Filipino-American audiences while expanding appeal to Asian-American, Hispanic, and general moviegoers. The campaign will leverage the strong fan base of Kim Chiu and Paulo Avelino, ensuring high engagement on social media; Strategic partnerships with ABS-CBN Global’s flagship platform for overseas audiences; Ongoing discussions with key Filipino-American brands in retail, food, and lifestyle sectors; and A mix of digital, social, and in-platform promotions.
“Filipino films continue to gain recognition worldwide, and My Love Will Make You Disappear is a testament to the power of kilig as a cultural export,” said ABS-CBN Films Head Kriz Gazmen. “With Kim Chiu and Paulo Avelino’s undeniable chemistry and international appeal, we see this as a winning formula for global success.”
Amorette Jones said, “Like we did with Hello, Love, Again, we’ll utilize the sizable reach of ABS-CBN’s global platforms to fuel the impressive fandom of KimPau and create a cultural moment around this film. We’re excited to see audiences responding so enthusiastically to Filipino stories and have another great one to introduce and eventize with My Love Will Make You Disappear.”
