Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is now playing in theaters and marks the final film of director-writer James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy which began in 2014. Vol. 3 stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldaña, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, featuring Vin Diesel as Groot and Bradley Cooper as Rocket Racoon, Sean Gunn, Chukwudi Iwuji, Will Poulter and Maria Bakalova. Additional cast members include Linda Cardellini, Nathan Fillion, Daniela Melchior, Nico Santos, Miriam Shor, Elizabeth Debicki, Michael Rosenbaum and Sylvester Stallone.
Vol. 3 finds the Guardians trying to restore the seemingly irrevocable damage caused by Thanos while attempting to transform Knowhere into a sanctuary for all those displaced by the harsh universe.
Popternative’s Jesse Camacho sat down with Guardians of the Galaxy star Sean Gunn, who plays Kraglin, to discuss Vol. 3. In addition to portraying Kraglin, Sean also provides the motion capture for Rocket Raccoon who is voiced by Bradley Cooper.
“The interesting thing is that I really try to prepare different characters in a similar way. So whether it ends up being a CGI character or a character where you see my face on screen, I still start with the same approach which is reading the script and sort of visualizing the scenes from the perspective of the character that I’m playing. The good thing about playing CGI characters is that there’s a larger margin of error. The visual effects team can always change what I do if they want to, and particularly with Rocket, I do a lot of work with Rocket obviously, but also it’s not generally my voice you hear in the movie and so I’m mostly there to work with the other actors and then Bradley [Cooper] comes in and completes the character later,” Sean tells Popternative.
He also tells us what the last day on set was like knowing that this is the final film of the Guardians trilogy.
