We were joined on the Popternative show by Alexander Ludwig (Vikings, The Hunger Games) and Jessica Frances Dukes (Ozark, Jessica Jones) who star in the post-apocalyptic sci-fi series, Earth Abides. Based on George R. Stewart’s acclaimed 1949 novel, the limited 6-episode series premiered on MGM+ December 1.
Ludwig and Dukes lead an ensemble cast which includes Aaron Tveit (Schmigadoon!, Les Misérables), Rodrigo Fernandez-Stoll (Priscilla, The Lie), Elyse Levesque (Orphan Black, Ready or Not), Luisa D’Oliveira (The 100, The Painter), Birkett Turton (Family Law, iZombie), Hilary McCormack (Sugar Daddy), and Jenna Berman (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina).
In Earth Abides, when a plague of unprecedented virulence sweeps the globe, the human race is all but wiped out. In the aftermath, as the great machine of civilization slowly and inexorably breaks down, only a few shattered survivors remain to struggle against the slide into extinction.
The series is created and executive produced by Todd Komarnicki (Sully, The Professor and the Madman), alongside executive producers Kearie Peak (Leverage), Michael Phillips (Taxi Driver, The Sting) and Juliana Maio (Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead).
