It’s been almost 8 years since Disney‘s Moana first premiered in November 2016. Today, Disney released new photos and a teaser trailer for the sequel, Moana 2, which will reunite Moana and Maui three years later for a new adventure. After receiving an unexpected call from her wayfinding ancestors, Moana must journey to the far seas of Oceania and into dangerous, long-lost waters for an adventure unlike anything she’s ever faced.
Moana 2 will premiere in theaters November 27th, 2024 starring Auli’i Cravalho (Mean Girls, Crush, Moana) and Dwayne Johnson (Black Adam, Red Notice, Moana) as Moana and demigod Maui, respectively.
Directed by David Derrick Jr., (Moana, Encanto), Jason Hand (Encanto, Zootopia), and Dana Ledoux Miller (Designated Survivor, Narcos), and produced by Christina Chen and Yvett Merino, Moana 2 will features music by Grammy winners Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear, Grammy nominee Opetaia Foaʻi, and three-time Grammy winner Mark Mancina.
