We were joined on the Popternative show by Jake Lockett who plays firefighter Sam Carver in the long-running popular NBC series, Chicago Fire. After a big cliffhanger at the end of season 12 involving Sam, fans eagerly waited for the new season all summer. Season 13 premiered on September 25 and saw the arrival of new character Chief Dom Pascal, played by Dermot Mulroney.
Audiences were first introduced to Jake’s character in season 11 of Chicago Fire and he has officially been upped to a series regular.
“In season 11, they started [Sam] in a place that wasn’t the most popular. Giving a character room to grow is such an awesome experience. As an actor and as an audience, you get to see this person become the person we want them to be, the person we all want to root for,” Jake tells us.
When discussing the loyal fan base, Jake says, “They’re amazing. The amount of people in comments on social media; that’s why the show is so loved by so many people, it inspires conversations and reactions. I can’t say enough about how awesome the fans are and how much [time] they invest in who we are characters.”
He also shares some learning experiences he’s gained from the set of Chicago Fire, and lots more. Watch the full conversation below.
Chicago Fire airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. on NBC, and can be streamed on Peacock.
