Disney’s Haunted Mansion is a story with a beloved legacy. There is The Haunted Mansion ride attraction at Disneyland Parks and the 2003 film A Haunted Mansion starring Eddie Murphy. Now, a new generation of children and children at heart get to experience the comedic tale.
Written by Katie Dippold and directed by Justin Simien, Haunted Mansion stars Rosario Dawson as a single mother named Gabbie who moves into a haunted residence with her son Travis, played by Chase W. Dillon. Gabbie enlists the help of a tour guide (LaKeith Stanfield), a psychic (Tiffany Haddish), a priest (Owen Wilson), and a historian (Danny DeVito) to help exorcise the ghosts in the mansion.
Working with such a stellar cast was like attending a master class for Chase, but also an opportunity to create a lasting bond with his co-stars. “I made family with these amazing actors,” Chase told Popternative.
He added, “You know, they’re Auntie Tiffany, LaKeith’s my brother, he’s a brother to me. Everybody’s just like a big happy family, Rosario is like a second mom and she’s an amazing person. I actually felt like that was [my mom], she was so caring it’s like wow, but it was just like me sitting with my family and I did learn a lot of things, because you know these are actors that’ve been in the industry for years and they’re big so I got tips, pointers, and things like that. I’m still learning, I’ve only been in the industry for what, four years, but still learning. And the things that they’ve taught me, I just sit down and listen. I don’t need to say anything, I’m just like ‘teach me everything you know. I’m ready’.”
