Juno Award-winning film and television composers Blitz//Berlin have released another captivating film soundtrack, this time for Emma Higgins’ psychological thriller SWEETNESS. The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack is available today on all major streaming platforms.
The film follows obsessive music fan Rylee (Kate Hallett), who kidnaps her rockstar idol (Herman Tømmeraas) in a desperate attempt to save him from a spiralling drug addiction. After premiering in theatres in March, SWEETNESS is now available on demand.
“The [Sweetness] score had to capture all the angst and hope and sadness of Rylee’s teenage emotions, and then evolve as her fantasies collide with the real world. Something I love about this film is that despite her many bad deeds, you root for Riley and her desire to be noticed. We were inspired by that duality,” says Martin Macphail of Blitz//Berlin.
SWEETNESS Original Motion Picture Soundtrack description: On the Sweetness OST, Blitz//Berlin delivers their most diverse and atmospheric score yet. From tracks like “Overdose” and “The Gospel” to “Payton’s Theme” and “Forgive Us“, the trios punk and industrial roots are on full display while they chart new territory in synth-drenched arrangements. An early stand out is their must-hear choral flip of Juice WRLD’s “Hurt Me“, played with bitter irony at a key moment in the film.
