We all love the Gaang and their iconic adventure to save the Four Nations from elemental destruction. Simply put, Avatar: The Last Airbender has had a tremendous impact, expanding through books, shows, and even an upcoming movie, thanks to its dedicated fandom. As the series has travelled the world, much like Aang and his friends, the franchise made its East Coast stop at this year’s NYCC.

On the last day of NYCC 2025, Nickelodeon’s celebration took to the Main Stage as Janet Varney, known for voicing Korra in the franchise’s continuation series, was joined by Zach Tyler Eisen (Aang), Jack De Sena (Sokka), Michaela Jill Murphy (Toph), Dante Basco (Zuko), Mae Whitman (Katara), and co-creator Bryan Konietzko.

Attendees got to experience everything, from the cast reflecting on their times portraying the original series’ characters to the still hotly-contested shipping debate around “Kataang” and “Zutara”. Additionally, fans got to see a live reading, with a hand-picked contest winner, of  “The Serpent’s Pass / Appa’s Lost Days;” “The Western Air Temple;” and “Sozin’s Comet, Part 4: Avatar Aang.”

These live readings also had their own special artworks presented at the NYCC panel, courtesy of Konietzko. You can check some of them out below!

Fans also got a first look at new stills from an all-new series of Chibi-style 2D-animated shorts, available now on Nickelodeon’s Avatar: The Last Airbender YouTube channel, that feature reimagined classic scenes, spinoff comics and other fresh tales from the Avatar-verse.

Furthermore, the official trailer for Gameplay Group International Inc.’s Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game (working title), a fast-paced 1v1 fighter game featuring hand-drawn 2D animation set for release in Summer 2026 also dropped, which you can see below:

Although there was no update as to the franchise’s next projects, including 2026’s The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender and the next series, Avatar: Seven Havens, Konietzko promised that news would arrive very soon. While details are under wraps for the 2026 movie, starring Eric Nam and Dave Bautista, Seven Havens follows a young Earthbender discovering her role as the next Avatar in a less-than-perfect future.

Check out the official art for Avatar: Seven Havens down below!

However, there are multiple books from the franchise that are already available for fans, including The Official Baking Book, Bending Academy: Fire #1, Beasts of the Four Nations, City of Echoes and The Awakening of Roku.

Additionally, at NYCC’s Show Floor, fans were able to experience the four elements–Water, Earth, Fire, and Air–through immersive activations, photo ops, and interactive booth activities.

All episodes of Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra are available to stream on Paramount+.
