20th Century Studios has unveiled the first teaser trailer for its upcoming survival thriller Whalefall, starring Austin Abrams (Resident Evil, Weapons) as a scuba diver fighting for his life after being swallowed whole by a giant sperm whale.
Opening in theaters on October 16, Whalefall, is directed by Brian Duffield (No One Will Save You, Love and Monsters) with a screenplay by Duffield and Daniel Kraus, based on the book by Kraus of the same name.
The cast also includes Josh Brolin (Weapons, No Country for Old Men), Elisabeth Shue (The Boys, Leaving Las Vegas), John Ortiz, (American Fiction, Bad Monkey), Jane Levy (Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist, Don’t Breathe), and Emily Rudd (One Piece, Fear Street trilogy).
The synopsis reads, “Following the death of his father (Josh Brolin), Jay Gardiner (Austin Abrams) goes diving off the central Coast of California in search of his remains, but is swallowed by a massive sperm whale. While trapped inside its belly with only one hour of oxygen left, Jay comes to realize that the hard-earned lessons his father imparted may be the key to his escape.”
