We were joined on the Popternative show by Conor Merrigan-Turner who plays Logan Delaney in the new mystery series, Apples Never Fall. The miniseries premiered on March 14th with all 7 episodes on Peacock and is based on Liane Moriarty’s 2021 best-selling mystery novel of the same title.
The ensemble cast also includes Annette Bening (Nyad, Death on the Nile), Sam Neill (The Twelve, Jurassic Park), Jake Lacey (The White Lotus, A Friend of the Family), Alison Brie (GLOW, Somebody I Used to Know), Georgia Flood (Anzac Girls, Wentworth), Essie Randles (The Speedway Murders), Jeanine Serralles (Hightown,The Woman in the Window), and Dylan Thuraisingham (Head High).
Following the seemingly picture-perfect Delaney family, Stan (Sam Neill) and Joy (Annette Bening) have sold their successful tennis academy and are ready to the next chapter of their retired lives. While they look forward to spending time with their four adult children (Jake Lacy, Alison Brie, Conor Merrigan-Turner, Essie Randles), everything changes when a wounded young woman arrives at their home bringing the excitement they’ve been missing. But when Joy suddenly disappears, her children are forced to re-examine their parents’ so-called perfect marriage as their family’s darkest secrets begin to surface.
When discussing working with the cast, Conor says, “The challenge with shooting so many people in one scene is each person gets maybe three different coverages, so a lot of it is like, slowly moving a camera here, you break for 15, 20 [minutes], and we’re just sitting there. But, and I hope it comes out in the show, I was surrounded by the funniest people I ever met in my life, so the time just went like that. Alison Brie and Jake [Lacey], they’re just like firecrackers.”
He also tells us about his audition process for the series and his overall experience working with the cast and crew. Watch the full interview with Conor Merrigan-Turner below.
