Apple TV+ announced today that they have acquired a new limited drama series, Lucky set to star Anya Taylor-Joy (The Queen’s Gambit) who will also serve as executive producer. The series is based on the New York Times bestselling novel and Reese’s Book Club pick of the same name by Marissa Stapley.
In Lucky, Taylor-Joy stars as a young woman who left behind the life of crime she was raised in years ago, but must now embrace her darker, criminal side one final time in a desperate attempt to escape her past.
“Reese’s Book Club began with the goal of deepening connections – to the stories, to the storytellers, and to the community we are building. It is incredibly rewarding to be able to amplify these female-centric stories and their authors, see our community connect with them, then see them take on a whole new life on screen,” said Reese Witherspoon.
From Apple Studios, Lucky will be co-showrun, written and executive produced by Jonathan Tropper (Banshee, The Adam Project) alongside Cassie Pappas (Silo, Griselda). The series will be executive produced by Reese Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter (The Morning Show, Little Fires Everywhere) for Hello Sunshine. Anya Taylor-Joy will executive produce through her production banner Ladykiller.
