We were joined on the Popternative show by Tanzyn Crawford (Tiny Beautiful Things) who plays Tanselle in A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, the new series set around 100 years before the events in Game of Thrones.
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms premiered on Sunday, January 18 on HBO and HBO Max, and has already garnered a 94% Tomatometer score after the series debut. It follows two unlikely companions who roam Westeros together: Ser Duncan the Tall, a young, earnest, and brave knight, and his small but sharp-witted squire, Egg. In an era when the Targaryens still sit the Iron Throne and the last dragons linger in living memory, the pair are drawn into adventures, formidable enemies, and destinies far greater than they imagine.
Already renewed for a second season, the series stars also stars Peter Claffey (Bad Sisters), Dexter Sol Ansell (The Midwich Cuckoos), Daniel Ings (The Gentlemen), Bertie Carvel (Dalgliesh), Danny Webb (Pennyworth), Sam Spruell (Fargo), Shaun Thomas (Ladhood), Finn Bennett (Warfare), Edward Ashley (Masters of the Air), Henry Ashton (My Lady Jane), Youssef Kerkour (Home), Tom Vaughan-Lawlor (The Agency), and Daniel Monks (All Her Fault).
In our conversation, Tanzyn reflects on the immersive sets and costumes, especially for her character who is part of a Dornish puppeteer group performing at the tournament at Ashford Meadow. She was struck by the intricately detailed set and costume designs which helped get into her role as Tanselle, in addition to feeling like the cameras faded into the background when shooting her scenes.
