The Bridgerton universe has been expanded with its recent limited series, Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, which premiered on May 4 on Netflix. Centered on Queen Charlotte’s rise to prominence and power, this prequel told the story of how the young Queen’s marriage to King George sparked both a great love story and a societal shift, creating the world of the Ton inherited by the characters in Bridgerton.

Golda Rosheuvel (Queen Charlotte), Adjoa Andoh (Lady Danbury), and Ruth Gemmell (Lady Violet Bridgerton) reprised their roles from Bridgerton, with India Amarteifio as Young Queen Charlotte, Michelle Fairley as Princess Augusta, Corey Mylchreestas Young King George, and Arsema Thomas as Young Lady Danbury.

Since its premiere on May 4, Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story garnered a whopping 307 millions hours viewed and dominated the Netflix Top 10 for weeks. The ensemble cast is a large reason why the show worked so well; the casting choices for both the younger versions of characters as well as the new ones clearly paid off.
