10 More MCU Characters That Should Be Cast in Avengers: Doomsday
With Thunderbolts* officially out, Marvel fans are overly excited for what’s to come given that fantastic post-credits scene. The multiverse has been in play at Marvel Studios for quite a while. However, now that we’re one step closer towards Avengers: Doomsday, fans are hoping that some of their fan favorite characters will return.
Of course, Marvel Studios has been gradually teasing who will appear in Doomsday. Though their first outing was a five-hour tease with director’s chairs, it built up the right amount of hype for the (new) Avengers’ outing against Doctor Doom.
Although, there are still a few characters who deserve to be in Avengers: Doomsday who’ve yet to be announced!
10. Clea
Though she only appeared in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Clea is perhaps one of the most important characters in Marvel’s realm of magic. Through Avengers: Doomsday, Clea could be an influential figure not only in establishing this film, but also a potential third Doctor Strange film.
In the post-credits scene, she told Doctor Strange that his multiversal expedition had inevitably led to an incursion. As Doctor Strange’s partner, Clea could help guide Strange and the others to learn about the mystical impacts of Doctor Doom’s impact on Secret Wars.
9. Kate Bishop
Last time fans saw Kate Bishop was in the post-credits of The Marvels, where Ms. Marvel recruited her into what looked to be the Young Avengers. Given how Avengers: Doomsday deals with different Avengers teams, the likelihood of the Young Avengers being established with Kate as one of its leaders grows.
However, it’s very likely that Avengers: Doomsday will have a stronger focus on the new Avengers and the classic X-Men teaming up. Still, given Kate’s connection with Yelena Belova and even Ant-Man, there’s a possibility she could be teased in actually forming the Young Avengers team with Ms. Marvel.
8. Ms. Marvel
Ms. Marvel, in the same way as Kate Bishop, is already making a huge impact given the post-credits scene of The Marvels. Although the Young Avengers were first teased in that film, Avengers: Doomsday has a greater possibility of finally seeing this team come together. Other MCU characters, like America Chavez and Cassie Lang, could also be joining Ms. Marvel’s side.
That said, Kamala Khan became one of Marvel Studios’ most beloved characters thanks to her own nerdy charms and out-going attitude. Kamala could provide the right amount of positivity to the film where Doom’s darkness may linger on.
7. America Chavez
With her multiversal powers and close connection with Doctor Strange, America Chavez is destined to return in Avengers: Doomsday. Though she might’ve been left with Wong at the end of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, America Chavez could certainly find herself aiding Sam Wilson’s classic Avengers team.
America Chavez’s abilities to traverse the multiverse could make her a viable threat for Doctor Doom. While she may not be a full-fledged Avenger, she could certainly combine her wits with Doctor Strange’s mastery of the mystic arts to fight back against Doom.
6. Wong
Having an Avengers film without Wong following the events of the Infinity Saga seems wrong. Not only is Wong the actual Sorcerer Supreme now, but he has served as an integral element in the build-up to both Marvel’s original plans with Kang the Conqueror and now, with Doomsday. However, the question now lies in what Wong can do in the first-parter.
Given how Wong took America Chavez under the wings of the Masters of the Mystic Arts, Wong’s role may be somewhat diminished as America works hand-in-hand with Strange. However, he might also be working closely with Shang-Chi to discover how his Ten Rings could ultimately be the weakness Doom has.
5. Captain Marvel
Captain Marvel is an integral part of the cosmic side of the MCU now, playing a role in how the incursions leave a lasting impact on the multiverse. Her adventures with Ms. Marvel and Monica Rambeau certainly caused some chaos as their journey in The Marvels left Monica Rambeau stuck in an alternate universe.
As such, it would be interesting to see how Carol tries to figure out how to get Monica back from the other universe. Just like how she worked with the original Avengers in Avengers: Endgame, it’s very likely that she’ll take Sam Wilson’s side amidst the other teams that will be featured in Avengers: Doomsday.
4. Monica Rambeau/Photon
Given how Monica ended up in the alternate X-Men universe in The Marvels, the likelihood of Monica returning in Avengers: Doomsday just got higher. Plus, with a superpowered version of her mother that doesn’t even know her, Monica’s mission to return to her original world will make for an interesting character arc for the film.
Furthermore, seeing a prime MCU character in an alternative reality will definitely have fans excited for such characters to interact with familiar faces. Though that may be saved for Secret Wars, getting a taste of that nostalgia through Monica’s perspective would be fun!
3. Sylvie
Though it seems like Sylvie Laufeydottir got her resolution with Loki Season 2, the implications of Loki becoming the god of the multiverse also affects her. If Doctor Doom seeks to hold the power of the multiverse in his hands, then Sylvie’s involvement in Avengers: Doomsday is a must.
If Doctor Doom seeks to replace Loki, then the burden of trying to save the God of Stories is placed upon Sylvie to do what she can. She might fail and turn over to search for heroes to help her, like the prime MCU Avengers. As such, her interactions with Thor and Loki could be particularly interesting given her Asgardian background.
2. Nick Fury
It’s been a while since fans have seen Nick Fury return to the big screen as his focus is on space. However, since the Fantastic Four’s abrupt arrival into the main MCU universe in Thunderbolts*, it’s very likely that he might take SABER’s resources in helping the Avengers venture out into the multiverse.
Since The Marvels, Fury has been held up in the SABER space station and some might be wondering where he’s been all this time. Avengers: Doomsday could certainly provide the platform for Fury to make his grand return as he helps the Avengers, both new and old, to traverse these new worlds.
1. Hulk
There shouldn’t be an Avengers film if it doesn’t include the Hulk in some capacity. Fans haven’t seen Bruce Banner return in a film (Red Hulk doesn’t count) or show since She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. However, with several Avengers teams going around, Hulk may find himself at odds with the New Avengers while helping Sam out.
With Hulk’s son, Skaar, also in the mix, it would be interesting to see if Marvel Studios can continue laying the groundwork for a World War Hulk film inside Doomsday. Though Universal Pictures owns the film rights to the Hulk, it’s for certain that the Hulk will make a difference in the next Avengers film.
Avengers: Doomsday releases in theaters on May 1, 2026.
