When it was announced that a sequel to the cult classic Karate Kid was in the works, many were skeptical about it. On May 2, YouTube Red released the 10-episode series, and it’s getting incredibly positive reactions.
The series, which stars Karate Kid original cast members Ralph Macchio and William Zabka, takes place 30 years after the infamous 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament. Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) seeks redemption by re-opening the Cobra Kai karate dojo, and finds himself once again at odds with Daniel LaRusso who is now a successful car dealership owner (Ralph Macchio).
It currently has a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, a 9.2/10 on IMDB and a 72% on Metacritic.
On May 5, the series hit 15 millions views.
#CobraKai just hit 15 million views. Good work Lynn. Keep that thing spinning. And THANKS to everybody who's showing up @CobraKaiSeries 👊🏻🥋 pic.twitter.com/zAyf4FWoft

The final episode leaves the door open for a potential second season, which definitely seems likely considering reactions seen online.
If Zabka doesn't win an Emmy or something for Cobra Kai, the awards are rigged.

Watched all 10 episodes of #CobraKai last night, as it was a show where you just had to keep going when each episode ended! A really great follow up to the original #KarateKid movies.

I don't know how they pulled this off but this is literally The Karate Kid for a new generation. It manages nostalgia while moving the story forward into the future with new characters. Oh I'm having so much fun watching. It's a great sequel to a classic trilogy. #CobraKai
